Two Council run museums in the City have made it to the final of a national competition.

The winners of the ‘Museums at Night Connect10’ contest benefit from £2,000 per venue and a celebrity artist of their choice to exhibit at two special night events.

Now, the City Council is urging residents to get behind the campaign and vote to help both Gloucester museums win in their categories.

The Folk Museum has bid to win Richard Wentworth (Damien Hurst’s tutor and British Sculptor), and the City Museum has bid to win Julia Vogl (Catlin Prize winner, American-English).

Councillor Paul James, Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Gloucester City Council said: “This is a great opportunity for the City to be visited by highly acclaimed artists.

“The events themselves have something for everyone and being in a museum or gallery at night is always incredibly exciting.

“Whether you have visited either museum before or not, they really will be great events to attend.”

The Connect10 competition is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

The online voting commences at Tuesday 19^th February at 11am, and closes at 5pm on Tuesday 5^th March. 

From Tuesday 19^th everyone who visits the museums will be invited to vote for both museums via www.gloucestermuseums.co.uk.
