May Fair to bring fun for all the family

A petting zoo, a pop up market and an entertainment tent will bring fun for all the family when Gloucester’s Clock Tower Park hosts its May Fair.

Families and friends are invited to bring along a picnic and enjoy the May Fair at Clock Tower Park in Abbeymead Gloucester on Saturday 23rd May from 11am until 4pm.

As well as a pop up market offering a wide selection of arts, crafts, cakes and gifts, there will be traditional games and activities, a petting zoo, bouncy castles and face painting. Local groups, sports and social clubs will be there offering taster sessions, including Gloucestershire Bike Project who will offer free bike services on the day.

An ice cream van will also be on site offering iced treats, and a barbecue will be available for anyone not bringing their own disposable one.

The fair has been organised to encourage more people to use their local parks and showcase the great initiatives going on across Gloucester.

Emily Jones, Neighbourhood Manager at Gloucester City Council said, “We want people to come along and enjoy the glorious green space at Clock Tower Park. Everyone taking part is giving their time for free and we want to show people that you can enjoy the great outdoors close to where you live. This event is free to attend and almost all of the activities will be free too.

“We’re also hoping that the May Fair will encourage people to become more active in their communities, either by joining some of the local clubs that will be there, or helping to set up a Friends Group.”

Friends Groups already operate across the city, helping to run our green spaces by focussing on a particular one. They work with Gloucester City Council and other groups and residents to get the most from our parks for the local community and are a great way of making sure open spaces are well looked after and accessible to everyone.

Clock Tower Park is in walking distance from Abbeydale, Abbeymead, Barnwood and Coney Hill. There are also cycle and bus routes next to the park for anyone coming from further away.

Dogs on leads are also welcome.
