{"id":371,"date":"2016-02-10T01:36:26","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T01:36:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.abbeyviews.com\/wordpress\/?p=371"},"modified":"2016-02-10T01:36:26","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T01:36:26","slug":"gold-for-gloucester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abbeyviews.com\/wordpress\/?p=371","title":{"rendered":"Gold for Gloucester"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><strong>Gloucester Tourist Information Centre has won gold in the visitor information provider category at the South West Tourism Awards.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Gloucester was joint winner with Bodmin Tourist Information Centre for the award, which was held at Exeter Cathedral on 4<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> February.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">The award ceremony was organised by Services for Tourism, an organisation that works with tourism boards and companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Bournemouth and Launceston were runners up, whilst Dartmouth and Discover Purbeck picked up bronze awards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Gloucester Tourist Information Centre has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Awards for Excellence 2016, held by VisitEngland \u2013 the national tourist board. It is the only tourist information centre from the south west to be shortlisted in the nationals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">It is up for the award of \u2018Visitor Information Provider of the Year\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">The award ceremony will be held on Tuesday 8<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> March at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">The sixteen awards pay tribute to businesses and individuals who champion best practice and exhibit excellence in customer service, and Gloucester is a finalist for best visitor information provider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Cllr Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture and leisure said: \u201cIt is fantastic that not only have we won the gold for the South West Tourism Awards, but that we have also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Awards for Excellence, held by VisitEngland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">\u201cI am very proud of everyone in the team who has worked so hard to provide such a fantastic service.
