{"id":357,"date":"2016-01-24T20:07:16","date_gmt":"2016-01-24T20:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.abbeyviews.com\/wordpress\/?p=357"},"modified":"2016-02-03T23:08:03","modified_gmt":"2016-02-03T23:08:03","slug":"and-the-only-cinema-in-gloucester-showing-the-hateful-eight-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abbeyviews.com\/wordpress\/?p=357","title":{"rendered":"And the only cinema in Gloucester showing The Hateful Eight is&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><strong>Gloucester Guildhall has announced it will show Quentin Tarantino\u2019s controversial film The Hateful Eight \u2013 and they are the only cinema in the city that will be screening the gory western.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Earlier this month Cineworld, Picturehouse and Curzon announced they would not be showing the flick after failing to come to an agreement over the format in which the film can be shown: it is only available in 70mm format. This cast doubt over whether people in Gloucester would be able to see what has been described as \u201cTarantino\u2019s masterpiece\u201d in their home town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">However, Gloucester Guildhall has jumped to the rescue and will be showing the film from January 22<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">nd<\/span><\/sup> until February 3<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">rd<\/span><\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Dan Charles, programming and marketing manager, said; \u201cTickets are flying out already, and our social media pages have gone wild over this. It\u2019s great that an independent cinema like us can fill the void created by the big chains and satisfy the public demand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u201cThis reinforces the point that our cinema is <em>the<\/em> place in the city to come to watch alternative films. While we rub shoulders with the big boys and screen a number of box office hits, we also pride ourselves on showing the more esoteric titles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u201cWe listen to the public and do our best to programme what people want to see.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Cllr Lise Noakes, cabinet member for culture and leisure at Gloucester City Council, said; \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic that we\u2019re able to show one of 2016\u2019s biggest films in the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u201cWhere the major cinema groups have failed, our team at Gloucester Guildhall succeeded and now residents will have their chance to watch a Tarantino classic!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Tickets for The Hateful Eight (18) are on sale now from <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gloucesterguildhall.co.uk\">www.gloucesterguildhall.co.uk<\/a> or by calling 01452 503050.
