{"id":319,"date":"2015-05-12T21:57:33","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T20:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.abbeyviews.com\/wordpress\/?p=319"},"modified":"2015-05-12T21:57:33","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T20:57:33","slug":"may-fair-to-bring-fun-for-all-the-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abbeyviews.com\/wordpress\/?p=319","title":{"rendered":"May Fair to bring fun for all the family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><strong>A petting zoo, a pop up market and an entertainment tent will bring fun for all the family when Gloucester\u2019s Clock Tower Park hosts it<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s May Fair.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Families and friends are invited to bring along a picnic and enjoy the May Fair at Clock Tower Park in Abbeymead Gloucester on Saturday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> May from 11am until 4pm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">As well as a pop up market offering a wide selection of arts, crafts, cakes and gifts, there will be traditional games and activities, a petting zoo, bouncy castles and face painting. Local groups, sports and social clubs will be there offering taster sessions, including Gloucestershire Bike Project who will offer free bike services on the day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">An ice cream van will also be on site offering iced treats, and a barbecue will be available for anyone not bringing their own disposable one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The fair has been organised to encourage more people to use their local parks and showcase the great initiatives going on across Gloucester.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Emily Jones, Neighbourhood Manager at Gloucester City Council said, \u201cWe want people to come along and enjoy the glorious green space at Clock Tower Park. Everyone taking part is giving their time for free and we want to show people that you can enjoy the great outdoors close to where you live. This event is free to attend and almost all of the activities will be free too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u201cWe\u2019re also hoping that the May Fair will encourage people to become more active in their communities, either by joining some of the local clubs that will be there, or helping to set up a Friends Group.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Friends Groups already operate across the city, helping to run our green spaces by focussing on a particular one. They work with Gloucester City Council and other groups and residents to get the most from our parks for the local community and are a great way of making sure open spaces are well looked after and accessible to everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Clock Tower Park is in walking distance from Abbeydale, Abbeymead, Barnwood and Coney Hill.
