8/1/10 City council Update

  Refuse and recycling suspended


Refuse and recycling collections in Gloucester are again suspended  due to the adverse weather conditions.

The situation continues to be monitored and normal services will be resumed as quickly as possible.

Households which have had missed collections will be able to put out two extra bags of rubbish next week.

Service updates:

  • The contact centre on 01452 396396 is staffed and should be the first point of contact for   anyone with a query about city council services.
  • Today’s Farmers Market in the city centre is cancelled.

  • The Cherry and White Market in Kings Square scheduled for today (Friday January 8) and    tomorrow (Saturday January 9) is cancelled.

  • The market and car boot at the Hempsted Meadow site on Sunday (January 10) is cancelled.

  • The homelessness team  at the Council’s Docks offices is available to deal with personal       callers.

  • The benefits team is working but advise against making personal trips in the current weather conditions. A benefit application form is available online, Click here.

  • Both GL1 leisure centre and the tennis centre are open. This situation is constantly being reviewed so consult the Aspire website by Clicking here.

  • Shopmobility is working normally at The Quays shopping centre. However the city centre      branch has no toilet facilities, only a limited number of wheeled scooters and will be closing at 3.30 today.
