Flood Update

This is the current flood situation for Gloucester City Council as at Thursday January 24th, 2008.

This supersedes any other information regarding sandbags and the supply of sandbags by the council.

New information is in bold type

1. High tide on the River Severn is now expected at 11.00pm this evening and at 11.30am tomorrow.

2. Predicted levels could result in some localised flooding..

3. The new flood defences at Alney island have proved to be effective.

4. However, as a purely precautionary measure sandbags have been delivered to properties in that area.

5. Sandbags have previously been delivered to properties in other high risk areas in the city.

6. Residents who have been issued with sandbags are required to keep them for re-use if necessary.

7. People who have previously been flooded but who have not been issued with sandbags are on a list for future delivery, if the situation changes. Residents should call the council’s contact centre to check that their addresses have been recorded.

8. Sandbags are not currently being delivered to any other parts of the city. There is no weather warning and the forecast is good.
